What To Watch – September 2016

Summer may be drawing to a close, but cheer up by checking out these films upcoming this month:

Brotherhood – 2nd September

Noel Clarke returns to write, direct and star in the final chapter of the series. Following Kidulthood and Adulthood, Sam faces new challenges that he must face with the help of his old friends. If you are into your gangster films and a fan of the previous two, you’ll want to check out the conclusion to this dark trilogy.

Sausage Party – 2nd September

Seth Rogan’s trailer to Sausage Party fooled us all when we thought we were being treated to an innocent animated movie, only to then be comically surprised by some of Rogan’s typical crass humour in cartoon form. All his buddies voice characters in Sausage Party so prepare for some good, nonsensical laughs.

Café Society – 2nd September

Woody Allen’s latest outing sees Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart team up on screen. Set in the 1930’s, a man moves to Hollywood where he falls in love with the secretary of his Uncle, an agent to movie stars. Upon his return to New York, he is swept up in the world of high society nightlife. If you’re a fan of Woody Allen’s unique style, you’ll already be eagerly anticipating this one.

Anthropoid – 9th September

Cilian Murphy has impressed everyone with the success of the television series, Peaky Blinders, but he switches his attentions back to the big screen in Sean Ellis’ Anthropoid. The film follows the true story of Operation Anthropoid, the mission during WWII to assassinate SS General Reinhard Heydrich, the Reich’s third in charge behind Hitler and Himmler. Jamie Dornan and Toby Jones also star in this biographical thriller.

Kubo and the Two Strings – 9th September

This animated adventure follows the story of young boy Kubo, who must find a magical suit of armour that belonged to his late father in order to take down an ancient and vengeful evil spirit. Charlize Theron, Matthew McConaughey and San Andreas star, Art Parkinson voice in this epic family adventure.

Bridget Jones’ Baby – 16th September

Bridget’s back! After breaking up with Mark and now entering her 40s, she now decides to fully concentrate on her career as a top news producer. Things take a twist however, when dashing American, Jack (Patrick Dempsey) enters her life, only then to realise she is now pregnant. But who is the father? Yes, we’re all just dying to know…Colin Firth and Renee Zellweger return.

The Magnificent Seven – 23rd September

Antoine Fuqua’s latest action adventure sees him direct an all-star cast in the Western thriller, The Magnificent Seven. Denzel Washington, Ethan Hawke and Chris Pratt are three of the seven deadly gunmen who come together to save a poor and vulnerable village from thieves.

Deepwater Horizon – 30th September

Mark Wahlberg and Peter Berg (Lone Survivor) team up again to tell the story inspired by the offshore drilling rig Deepwater Horizon, which exploded in April 2010, causing the worst oil spill in US history. Kate Hudson and Kurt Russell also star in this action fuelled, hero flick.
