Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn has shocked the superhero world with the news that he is in discussions to write, and possibly direct the next Suicide Squad movie for DC.
Gunn was ousted from the third Guardians installment for Marvel earlier this year when inappropriate tweets of his were dug up and the director was ultimately fired.
The director received the backing of his Guardians actors, with an open letter being published, supporting Gunn and sharing the hopes that he will return as director of the third movie.
But the latest news looks to have completely disregarded this, with Gunn now looking to be in charge of the next edition of Suicide Squad, the DC movie that famously flopped in 2016.
Reports suggest that he is looking to take on a completely different take on the movie, with a remake looking to be the more likely approach as opposed to a sequel.
Little else has been announced about the film but this is certainly a huge shock to the superhero universe.
